About Black Swan Media Solutions

Studio operator with a Clinical Research Associate background — clinical trials, regulatory documentation, and audit-grade processes. Craig founded Black Swan to bring that same discipline (documentation, accountability, rebuilds-until-it-holds) to web, mobile, and cinematic work for clients across industries. Based in the Kansas City metro, working with clients regionally and nationally. Black Swan's deepest niche is clinical research website design, with the same discipline carried into custom web, mobile, and cinematic builds.

What rigor actually means here.

Plain English, no jargon, no buzzwords, no agency-speak — here's what the discipline actually looks like.

Most agencies use "rigor" as a brochure word. We mean it as a discipline. Every project gets a written scope. Every decision gets documented. Every deliverable gets reviewed against the brief before it ships. If we can't trace a design or engineering choice back to a measurable goal, we don't make it.

The discipline comes directly from the clinical-research world. In a clinical trial, every data point gets a chain of custody — who collected it, when, under what protocol, and how it was verified. Apply that same logic to a website build and you get a project that holds up under scrutiny: the page loads fast because we tested it on a real device, the SEO ranks because we measured the keyword landscape before writing copy, the conversion form works because we recorded the actual click path.

You'll see the discipline in three places. The discovery document at week 1 names the goal, the audience, and the success metric. The build log at week 3 shows every decision and why. The post-launch report at day 14 measures Core Web Vitals, indexation, and traffic against the baseline. Three documents you keep. Three documents you can hand to the next person.

Who we ship for.

We're industry-agnostic in process and industry-specific in finish. The discipline is the same; the visual vocabulary and the regulatory posture change page by page.

Clinical research and life sciences — This is where the studio leans hardest. Clinical research website design is a niche where regulatory documentation, IRB-style review trails, and audit-grade content management aren't features — they're the table stakes. We've sat across the table from CRAs and study coordinators. We know what HIPAA-adjacent intake forms need to do, what informed-consent language reads like, and why "we'll just use a generic template" gets a clinical-research site flagged. If you're a CRO, a research center, a recruitment site, or a contract research organization, ask us about the regulatory posture before you compare us to a marketing agency.

Trades and contractors — Roofers, HVAC, builders, electricians. The Garrison Roofing case study is the template: lead-generation site, SMS notification to the office, local-SEO tuned for the metro, before/after photography that loads fast on a phone.

Professional services — Legal, accounting, consulting. Trust-driven verticals where the site has to read as competent before the prospect ever reads the copy. We lean into clean typography, evidence-of-work, and case-study formatting.

Small Kansas City businesses — Restaurants, salons, single-location service businesses. Lower price point, higher empathy. SMS list over app, photo session over stock photography.

Cinematic studio clients — Brand films, promo, testimonial, training video. Prior clients include Coca-Cola Bottling and Waldorf Astoria. The studio still produces this work for clients who specifically want it.

How a project actually runs.

Week 1 — Discovery. Free 30-minute call. We map what you're trying to build, who it's for, and what success looks like. You walk away with a written scope and a fixed price.

Weeks 2–3 — Build. We design, develop, test, and launch. Weekly progress updates, a shared project board, and direct access to the developer building your site — that's me, Craig, not a project manager in front of an outsourced team.

Week 4 — Care. 14 days of post-launch monitoring at no charge. Then an optional ongoing maintenance plan: monitoring, security, performance tuning, content updates. We don't ship and disappear.

You own everything. Domain, hosting, code, content, photography library. On day one and on day one thousand. If you want to leave, you leave with the keys.

Common questions.

Why does your studio handle clinical research website design? Craig's background is Clinical Research Associate work — clinical trials, regulatory documentation, audit-grade processes. The studio applies the same discipline to web and mobile builds. Most agencies can't credibly speak the language; we can, and we built the studio specifically around verticals where that discipline matters.

Are you HIPAA compliant? The studio doesn't store protected health information. Whether your site is HIPAA-compliant depends on what data it collects, where it's hosted, and how it's integrated with your other systems. We build to HIPAA-aware patterns (secure intake, encrypted at rest and in transit, audit logging) and we'll tell you honestly which parts of compliance are inside your scope and which need your legal and IT teams.

Do you guarantee rankings or new patients? No. We don't guarantee rankings, traffic, leads, conversions, or new patients — and neither should anyone else. What we guarantee is the work: a fixed price, documented process, two rounds of design revisions, 14 days of post-launch monitoring, and the ability to walk away with everything you paid for.

What's a typical engagement length? Three to four weeks from contract signing to launch for a standard marketing site. Five weeks for sites with a custom backend or HIPAA-aware integrations. Cinematic studio work runs separately, usually one to two weeks per shoot.

Where are you based and who do you work with? Kansas City metro. We work with clients regionally — Overland Park, Lawrence, Topeka, Olathe, Shawnee — and nationally for engagements where the work is web, mobile, or cinematic. We'll travel for on-site photo and video shoots when the scope justifies it.
